CVE-2021-36005

CVSS v2.0

High

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Adobe Photoshop versions 21.2.9 and earlier Adobe Photoshop versions 22.4.2 and earlier
Description The issue is related to insecure handling of crafted PSD files, potentially resulting in arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user. Exploitation requires user interaction, where a victim must open a crafted PSD file in Photoshop. This is due to a stack overflow vulnerability, which can be described as a buffer overflow in memory, allowing an attacker to execute arbitrary code using a specially crafted file.
Recommendations For Adobe Photoshop versions 21.2.9 and earlier, update to a version later than 21.2.9 to resolve the issue. For Adobe Photoshop versions 22.4.2 and earlier, update to a version later than 22.4.2 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider avoiding the use of PSD files from untrusted sources until a patch is available.
