| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Adobe After Effects versions 18.2.1 and earlier
Description
The issue is caused by an out-of-bounds Write vulnerability when parsing a specially crafted file, potentially allowing an unauthenticated attacker to achieve arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user. Exploitation requires user interaction, where a victim must open a malicious file. This can be achieved through a specially crafted PDF file, leveraging a buffer overflow in dynamic memory.
Recommendations
For Adobe After Effects versions 18.2.1 and earlier, consider avoiding the use of PDF files from untrusted sources until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, restrict the ability to open files from unknown origins to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
