Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Adobe Media Encoder versions 15.2 and earlier
Description
The issue is caused by a buffer overflow when parsing a specially crafted file, potentially allowing a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code. An unauthenticated attacker could leverage this vulnerability to achieve arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction, where a victim must open a malicious file.
Recommendations
For Adobe Media Encoder versions 15.2 and earlier, update to a version that is not affected by this issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider avoiding the use of specially crafted files that could trigger the buffer overflow until a patch is available.
Restrict access to untrusted files to minimize the risk of exploitation.
Fix
Buffer Overflow
Access of Memory Location After End of Buffer
Memory Corruption
