CVE-2021-38206

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 5.12.13
Description The issue is related to the mac80211 subsystem in the Linux kernel, which allows attackers to cause a denial of service by injecting a frame with 802.11a rates when a device supporting only 5 GHz is used. This results in a NULL pointer dereference in the radiotap parser.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions prior to 5.12.13, update to version 5.12.13 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of devices that support only 5 GHz to minimize the risk of exploitation.
