Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Cisco Small Business 220 Series Smart Switches (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to the implementation of the Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) in the firmware of Cisco Small Business 220 Series Smart Switches. It involves a buffer overflow in memory, which can be exploited by sending specially crafted malicious LLDP packets. This could allow a remote attacker to cause a denial of service or execute arbitrary code on the affected device. An attacker must be in the same broadcast domain as the affected device to exploit these vulnerabilities.
Recommendations
For Cisco Small Business 220 Series Smart Switches, update the firmware to the version released by Cisco that addresses these vulnerabilities.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the LLDP protocol to minimize the risk of exploitation.
