Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
uClibc-ng versions prior to 1.0.37
Description
The issue is related to an integer overflow vulnerability in the uClibc library for Linux operating systems. This vulnerability can be exploited by a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code. The improper memory assignment in functions such as
malloc-simple can lead to unexpected behavior, including crashes or remote code injection/execution.Recommendations
For versions prior to 1.0.37, update to version 1.0.37 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
malloc-simple function to minimize the risk of exploitation.Fix
