CVE-2021-33527

CVSS v2.0

10

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions mbDIALUP versions <= 3.9R0.0
Description The issue is related to a remote attacker sending a specifically crafted HTTP request to the service, which does not correctly validate the input. This can lead to arbitrary code execution with the privileges of the service. The vulnerability is also associated with the failure to neutralize special elements used in the operating system command, which can allow an attacker to elevate their privileges and execute arbitrary code.
Recommendations For mbDIALUP versions <= 3.9R0.0, consider disabling the service running with NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to the mbConnect24serv component to minimize the risk of privilege escalation and arbitrary code execution. Avoid using the vulnerable service for establishing encrypted connections until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
