Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Adobe After Effects versions 18.4.1 and earlier
Description
The issue is related to a memory corruption vulnerability due to insecure handling of a malicious SVG file, potentially resulting in arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user. User interaction is required, as the victim must open a specially crafted file to exploit this vulnerability. The vulnerability is also described as a buffer overflow in memory, which can allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Recommendations
For Adobe After Effects versions 18.4.1 and earlier, update to a version that fixes the memory corruption vulnerability. As a temporary workaround, consider avoiding the use of malicious SVG files and restricting the opening of specially crafted files to minimize the risk of exploitation.
