CVE-2021-3546

CVSS v3.1

8.2

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions QEMU versions up to and including 6.0
Description The issue is related to an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the virtio vhost-user GPU device of QEMU. This vulnerability occurs while processing the VIRTIO GPU CMD GET CAPSET command from the guest. It could allow a privileged guest user to crash the QEMU process on the host, resulting in a denial of service condition, or potentially execute code with the privileges of the QEMU process.
Recommendations For QEMU versions up to and including 6.0, update to a version that includes the fix for this issue to prevent potential code execution or denial of service. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the VIRTIO GPU CMD GET CAPSET command to minimize the risk of exploitation.
