CVE-2020-36230

CVSS v2.0

7.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions OpenLDAP versions prior to 2.4.57
Description The issue is related to an assertion failure during syntactic analysis in the OpenLDAP implementation, which can be exploited by a remote attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS) by sending a specially crafted request to slapd. The vulnerability is associated with the X.509 DN parsing in decode.c ber next element.
Recommendations For versions prior to 2.4.57, update to version 2.4.57 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the slapd service to minimize the risk of exploitation.
