Description
The issue is caused by insecure handling of a malicious EXR file, leading to a memory corruption vulnerability. This vulnerability can potentially result in arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability. The vulnerability is also described as a buffer overflow in memory, which can allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user.
Recommendations
For Adobe Premiere Rush versions 1.5.16 and earlier, consider avoiding the use of malicious EXR files until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, restrict the handling of EXR files to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
