Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Adobe After Effects versions 18.2 and earlier
Description
The issue is related to a memory corruption vulnerability that occurs when parsing a specially crafted file, potentially allowing an unauthenticated attacker to achieve arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user. Exploitation requires user interaction, where a victim must open a malicious file. This vulnerability is associated with a buffer overflow in memory, which can be exploited using a specially crafted file to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Recommendations
For Adobe After Effects version 18.2 and earlier, consider avoiding the use of potentially malicious files until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, restrict the ability to open files from untrusted sources to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
