Description
A heap-based Buffer Overflow issue exists in the deflate16 function of the FFmpeg library, specifically in the libavfilter/vf neighbor.c file. This could lead to memory corruption and other potential consequences. The exploitation of this issue may allow a remote attacker to access confidential data, compromise its integrity, and cause a denial of service.
Recommendations
For FFmpeg version 4.2, consider disabling the deflate16 function in libavfilter/vf neighbor.c as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the vulnerable function to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
