Description
The issue is related to uncaught exceptions in the Trend Micro ServerProtection Information Server and an integer overflow vulnerability in the EarthAgent.exe executable of various ServerProtect products. This could allow a remote attacker to crash the process by sending a specially crafted message through port 5005.
Recommendations
For Trend Micro ServerProtection versions 5.8 through 6.0, update to a version that includes a fix for the uncaught exceptions issue.
For ServerProtect products, consider disabling the EarthAgent.exe executable as a temporary workaround until a patch is available.
Restrict access to port 5005 to minimize the risk of exploitation.
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability in ServerProtect for Storage (SPFS), ServerProtect for EMC Celerra (SPEMC), ServerProtect for Network Appliance Filers (SPNAF), and ServerProtect for Microsoft Windows/Novell Netware (SPNT).
