CVE-2021-2442

CVSS v3.1

6.0

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Oracle VM VirtualBox versions prior to 6.1.24
Description The issue is related to errors in resource release in the Core component of Oracle VM VirtualBox. It allows a high-privileged attacker with logon to the infrastructure where Oracle VM VirtualBox executes to compromise Oracle VM VirtualBox, potentially causing a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of Oracle VM VirtualBox. This could significantly impact additional products.
Recommendations For versions prior to 6.1.24, update to version 6.1.24 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Core component of Oracle VM VirtualBox to minimize the risk of exploitation.
