CVE-2021-32815

CVSS v2.0

7.1

High

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Exiv2 versions prior to v0.27.5
Description The issue is related to an assertion failure when Exiv2 is used to modify the metadata of a crafted image file, potentially allowing an attacker to cause a denial of service. This bug is only triggered when modifying the metadata, a less frequently used Exiv2 operation than reading the metadata. For example, to trigger the bug in the Exiv2 command-line application, an extra command-line argument such as fi is needed.
Recommendations For versions prior to v0.27.5, update to version v0.27.5 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider avoiding the modification of metadata with Exiv2 until the update is applied. Restrict access to crafted image files to minimize the risk of exploitation.
