CVE-2020-18974

CVSS v2.0

4.3

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Netwide Assembler (NASM) version v2.15.xx
Description The issue is related to a buffer overflow in the crc64i function of the nasmlib/crc64 component. This allows attackers to cause a denial of service. The problem is associated with the copying of a buffer without checking the input data, which can be exploited by a remote attacker to disrupt service.
Recommendations For Netwide Assembler (NASM) version v2.15.xx, consider disabling the crc64i function in the nasmlib/crc64 component as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the nasmlib/crc64 component to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
