CVE-2022-21457

CVSS v2.0

7.1

High

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:N/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions MySQL Server versions 8.0.28 and prior
Description The issue is related to insufficient input validation in the PAM Auth Plugin component of the MySQL Server system. This can be exploited by a remote attacker to gain unauthorized access to protected information using the FIDO network protocol. The vulnerability can be difficult to exploit and allows an unauthenticated attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise the MySQL Server, resulting in unauthorized access to critical data or complete access to all MySQL Server accessible data. In some cases, successful attacks can also cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash of the MySQL Server.
Recommendations For versions 8.0.28 and prior, update to a version that includes the fix for this issue to prevent exploitation. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting network access to the MySQL Server to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the PAM Auth Plugin until the issue is resolved, if possible, to prevent potential unauthorized access.
