CVE-2020-28628

CVSS v3.1

10

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions CGAL libcgal version 5.1.1
Description The issue is related to multiple code execution vulnerabilities in the Nef polygon-parsing functionality of CGAL libcgal. A specially crafted malformed file can lead to an out-of-bounds read and type confusion, potentially resulting in code execution. An attacker can provide malicious input to trigger these vulnerabilities. The vulnerability in the SNC io parser::read volume() function, specifically seh->twin(), is associated with unchecked array indexing, allowing a remote attacker to access confidential data, compromise its integrity, and cause a denial of service using a specially crafted file.
Recommendations For CGAL libcgal version 5.1.1, consider disabling the SNC io parser<EW>::read volume() function to prevent exploitation until a patch is available. Restrict access to the Nef S2/SNC io parser.h component to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the seh->twin() function in the affected SNC io parser<EW>::read volume() function until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
