CVE-2021-41099
CVSS v3.1
9.8
Critical
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Redis versions prior to 5.0.14
Redis versions prior to 6.0.16
Redis versions prior to 6.2.6
Description
The issue is related to an integer overflow bug in the underlying string library of Redis, an open-source, in-memory database. This bug can be exploited by changing the default
proto-max-bulk-len configuration parameter to a very large value and constructing specially crafted network payloads or commands, potentially resulting in denial of service or remote code execution. This allows a remote attacker to access confidential data, compromise its integrity, and cause a denial of service.Recommendations
For versions prior to 5.0.14, update to version 5.0.14 or later.
For versions prior to 6.0.16, update to version 6.0.16 or later.
For versions prior to 6.2.6, update to version 6.2.6 or later.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting unprivileged users from modifying the
proto-max-bulk-len configuration parameter using ACL to prevent them from using the CONFIG SET command.Fix
