CVE-2021-46926

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to the intel-sdw-acpi component of the Linux kernel, where the existing code sets a pointer to an ACPI handle before checking if it's actually a SoundWire controller. This can lead to issues where the graph walk continues and eventually fails, but the pointer was set already. The patch changes the logic so that the information provided to the caller is set when a controller is found. The vulnerability is related to insufficient input validation, which can allow an attacker to cause a denial of service.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
