CVE-2021-47591

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to the mptcp component of the Linux kernel, where a null pointer dereference can occur in the mptcp supported sockopt() function. This can lead to a denial of service. The problem arises because TCP ULP setsockopt cannot be used for mptcp due to its internal use for plumbing subflow sockets to the mptcp layer. A crash was triggered by syzbot for mptcp connections in fallback mode, resulting in a null pointer dereference.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
