Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Android versions prior to the fixed version
Description
In WindowManager, there is a possible way to start a foreground activity from the background due to a missing permission check. This could lead to local escalation of privilege with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation.
Recommendations
For Android versions prior to the fixed version, consider restricting background activities to minimize the risk of exploitation. As a temporary workaround, review and restrict the use of foreground activities started from the background until a patch is available. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
