Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Bentley MicroStation CONNECT version 10.16.0.80
Description
This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations. User interaction is required, where the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The flaw exists within the parsing of JT files due to the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a stack-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this to execute code in the context of the current process.
Recommendations
For Bentley MicroStation CONNECT version 10.16.0.80, update to a version that addresses the JT file parsing stack-based buffer overflow issue to prevent remote code execution. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the opening of JT files from untrusted sources until a patch is available.
