Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Android versions Android-10 through Android-11
Description
The issue is related to a missing permission check in the AlwaysOnHotwordDetector of AlwaysOnHotwordDetector.java. This could allow access to the microphone from the background, leading to local escalation of privilege with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is not required for exploitation.
Recommendations
For Android versions Android-10 through Android-11, consider restricting background access to the microphone until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, review and adjust permission settings to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
