Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Jenkins Badge Plugin versions 1.9 and earlier
Description
The issue results in a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability. This occurs because the plugin does not escape the description and does not check for allowed protocols when creating a badge. Attackers with Item/Configure permission can exploit this vulnerability.
Recommendations
For Jenkins Badge Plugin versions 1.9 and earlier, consider disabling the badge creation feature until a patch is available. Restrict access to the badge configuration to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the description field in the badge creation process until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
