Description
The issue is related to insufficient validation in GitLab, allowing an authenticated and authorized user to import a project with branch names that are 40 hexadecimal characters. This could be exploited in supply chain attacks where a victim is pinned to a specific Git commit of the project.
Recommendations
For versions prior to 15.0.5, update to version 15.0.5 or later.
For versions 15.1 prior to 15.1.4, update to version 15.1.4 or later.
For versions 15.2 prior to 15.2.1, update to version 15.2.1 or later.
