CVE-2022-22178

CVSS v2.0

7.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Juniper Networks Junos OS versions prior to 20.4R3-S2 Juniper Networks Junos OS versions prior to 21.1R2-S1, 21.1R3 Juniper Networks Junos OS versions prior to 21.2R2 Juniper Networks Junos OS versions prior to 21.3R2
Description The issue is related to a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the flow processing daemon (flowd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series and SRX series. This vulnerability can be exploited by an unauthenticated networked attacker to cause a flowd crash, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS). The issue can be triggered by a specific Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) invite packet if the SIP ALG is enabled, causing the PIC to reboot and dropping all traffic that traverses the PIC.
Recommendations For Juniper Networks Junos OS versions prior to 20.4R3-S2, update to version 20.4R3-S2 or later. For Juniper Networks Junos OS versions prior to 21.1R2-S1, 21.1R3, update to version 21.1R2-S1 or 21.1R3 or later. For Juniper Networks Junos OS versions prior to 21.2R2, update to version 21.2R2 or later. For Juniper Networks Junos OS versions prior to 21.3R2, update to version 21.3R2 or later. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the SIP ALG to minimize the risk of exploitation.
