Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Autodesk 3ds Max versions 2020 through 2022
Description
A stack-based buffer overflow issue may lead to code execution through the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a fixed-length stack-based buffer when parsing ActionScript Byte Code files. This may allow arbitrary code execution on affected installations of Autodesk 3ds Max.
Recommendations
For versions 2020 through 2022, update to a version that includes the fix for this issue to prevent arbitrary code execution.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the parsing of ActionScript Byte Code files until a patch is available.
