Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Jenkins Promoted Builds (Simple) Plugin versions 1.9 and earlier
Description
The issue is related to a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability. It occurs because the name and description of Promotion Level parameters on views displaying parameters are not properly escaped. This vulnerability can be exploited by attackers with Item/Configure permission. Exploitation requires that parameters are listed on another page and that those pages are not hardened to prevent exploitation.
Recommendations
For Jenkins Promoted Builds (Simple) Plugin versions 1.9 and earlier, update to a version later than 1.9 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to views displaying parameters to minimize the risk of exploitation.
Restrict the use of the Promotion Level parameters on views displaying parameters until a patch is available.
Fix
