CVE-2022-31080

CVSS v3.1

4.4

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:H/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions KubeEdge versions prior to 1.11.1 KubeEdge versions prior to 1.10.2 KubeEdge versions prior to 1.9.4
Description A large response received by the viaduct WSClient can cause a denial of service (DoS) from memory exhaustion. The entire body of the response is being read into memory, which could allow an attacker to send a request that returns a response with a large body. The consequence of the exhaustion is that the process which invokes a WSClient will be in a denial of service. This issue affects users who are authenticated to the edge side and connect to cloudhub from the edge side through WebSocket protocol.
Recommendations For versions prior to 1.11.1, update to version 1.11.1 or later. For versions prior to 1.10.2, update to version 1.10.2 or later. For versions prior to 1.9.4, update to version 1.9.4 or later. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the cloudhub through WebSocket protocol to minimize the risk of exploitation.
