VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions TP-LINK WR-886N version 20190826 2.3.8
Description The issue is caused by a buffer overflow on the stack in the /cloud config/router post/reset cloud pwd feature of the TP-LINK WR-886N router's firmware. This allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system via a specially crafted post request to the /cloud config/router post/reset cloud pwd API endpoint.
Recommendations For TP-LINK WR-886N version 20190826 2.3.8, consider disabling the /cloud config/router post/reset cloud pwd feature until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to this feature to minimize the risk of arbitrary code execution. Avoid using the /cloud config/router post/reset cloud pwd API endpoint until the issue is resolved.
