CVE-2022-40650

CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Ansys SpaceClaim version 2022 R1
Description This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations. User interaction is required, where the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The flaw exists within the parsing of X B files due to the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, resulting in a write past the end of an allocated data structure. An attacker can leverage this to execute code in the context of the current process.
Recommendations For Ansys SpaceClaim version 2022 R1, at the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the parsing of X B files or limiting user interaction with potentially malicious files until a patch is available. Avoid opening untrusted or malicious files with Ansys SpaceClaim to minimize the risk of exploitation.
