Description
The issue is related to a Heap-based Buffer Overflow in the
cmdline erase chars function of the Vim text editor. This can lead to software crashes, memory modification, and potentially allow for remote execution of arbitrary code. An attacker could exploit this by using a specially crafted file, potentially leading to code execution or denial of service.Recommendations
For versions prior to 8.2.4899, update to version 8.2.4899 or later to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the
