Description The issue is related to a NULL Pointer Dereference in the vim regexec string function at regexp.c:2729 in the Vim repository on GitHub. This allows attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in an application crash, via a crafted input. The vulnerability is associated with pointer dereference errors in the implementation of the vim regexec string() function in the Vim text editor.
Recommendations For versions prior to 8.2.4901, update to version 8.2.4901 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the vim regexec string() function until a patch is available.
