Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
InsydeH2O versions 5.1 through 5.5
Description
An issue was discovered in AhciBusDxe that allows an attacker to write fixed or predictable data to SMRAM, potentially leading to escalating privileges to SMM. This is related to an SMM memory corruption vulnerability. Exploiting this issue could allow an attacker to gain elevated privileges.
Recommendations
For versions 5.1 through 5.5, consider disabling the AhciBusDxe driver as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to SMRAM to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
