CVE-2022-1674

CVSS v3.1

6.6

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Vim versions prior to 8.2.4938
Description The issue is related to a NULL Pointer Dereference in the vim regexec string function at regexp.c:2733. This allows attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via a crafted input. The vulnerability can be exploited by an attacker to cause the application to crash, potentially by tricking a user into opening a specially crafted file.
Recommendations For versions prior to 8.2.4938, update to version 8.2.4938 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider avoiding the use of crafted inputs that could trigger the NULL Pointer Dereference in the vim regexec string function until a patch is applied.
