Description
The issue is related to a buffer overflow in the prepare inplace add virtual function of the MariaDB database management system. This could allow a remote attacker to impact the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information. The vulnerability is due to an use-after-poison in the prepare inplace add virtual function at /storage/innobase/handler/handler0alter.cc.
Recommendations
For MariaDB versions 10.4 through 10.7, consider disabling the prepare inplace add virtual function as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the affected module to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
