The issue exists due to the lack of neutralization of special elements used in the operating system command by the db optimize() function. This allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary commands. The estimated number of potentially affected devices is not specified.
Recommendations
For Device42 CMDB version 18.01.00 and prior versions, update to a version that contains a fix for this issue to prevent remote code execution.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the db optimize component until a patch is available.
