VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions AVEVA Edge version 20.0 Build: 4201.2111.1802.0000 Service Pack 2
Description This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations. User interaction is required, where the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The flaw exists within the processing of APP files, where crafted data can cause the application to execute arbitrary Visual Basic scripts. The user interface fails to provide sufficient indication of the hazard, allowing an attacker to execute code in the context of the current process.
Recommendations For AVEVA Edge version 20.0 Build: 4201.2111.1802.0000 Service Pack 2, consider disabling the processing of APP files until a patch is available to prevent the execution of arbitrary Visual Basic scripts. Restrict access to the application to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
