CVSS v3.1
9.0
Critical
| Vector | AV:A/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
FortiOS versions 6.0.0 through 6.0.14

FortiOS versions 6.4.0 through 6.4.8

Description
The issue is related to an improper neutralization of special elements used in an os command, which allows an attacker to execute privileged commands on a linked FortiSwitch via diagnostic CLI commands. This can be exploited by an authenticated attacker.
Recommendations
For FortiOS versions 6.0.0 through 6.0.14, update to a version outside of this range to mitigate the risk.
For FortiOS versions 6.2.0 through 6.2.10, update to a version outside of this range to mitigate the risk.
For FortiOS versions 6.4.0 through 6.4.8, update to a version outside of this range to mitigate the risk.
For FortiOS versions 7.0.0 through 7.0.3, update to a version outside of this range to mitigate the risk.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to diagnostic CLI commands until a patch is available.
