Description
The issue is related to an out-of-bounds read vulnerability that could lead to disclosure of sensitive memory. An attacker could leverage this vulnerability to bypass mitigations such as ASLR. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction, where a victim must open a malicious file. It is also described as a buffer overflow in dynamic memory, which may allow an attacker to gain unauthorized access to protected information.
Recommendations
For Adobe InDesign versions 16.4.2 and earlier, update to a version later than 16.4.2 to resolve the issue.
For Adobe InDesign versions 17.3 and earlier, update to a version later than 17.3 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider avoiding the use of dynamic memory allocation functions until a patch is available.
Avoid opening malicious files in Adobe InDesign until the issue is resolved.
