CVSS v2.0
7.8
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Go versions prior to 1.17.12
Go versions prior to 1.18.4
Description
The issue is related to uncontrolled recursion in the Decoder.Skip function in the encoding/xml package. This allows an attacker to cause a panic due to stack exhaustion by providing a deeply nested XML document. The exploitation of this issue can lead to a denial of service.
Recommendations
For Go versions prior to 1.17.12, update to version 1.17.12 or later to resolve the issue.
For Go versions prior to 1.18.4, update to version 1.18.4 or later to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the parsing of deeply nested XML documents to minimize the risk of exploitation.
