CVE-2022-39426

CVSS v3.1

8.1

High

VectorAV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Oracle VM VirtualBox versions prior to 6.1.40
Description The issue is related to a double free memory error when handling smart card input/output messages in the Core component of Oracle VM VirtualBox. This can be exploited by a remote attacker to gain full control over the application by sending specially crafted data using the VRDP protocol. Successful attacks can result in the takeover of Oracle VM VirtualBox.
Recommendations For versions prior to 6.1.40, update to version 6.1.40 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the VRDP protocol to minimize the risk of exploitation.
