Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
D-Link DIR-1935 version 1.03
Description
This issue allows network-adjacent attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations. Although authentication is required to exploit this issue, the existing authentication mechanism can be bypassed. The specific flaw exists within the handling of
ConfigFileUpload requests to the web management portal, specifically due to the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied string before using it as a format specifier. An attacker can leverage this issue to execute code in the context of root.Recommendations
For D-Link DIR-1935 version 1.03, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling the
ConfigFileUpload function until a patch is available. Restrict access to the web management portal to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using user-supplied strings in the ConfigFileUpload requests until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.Fix
