VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:S/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Fortinet FortiExtender versions 7.0.1 and below Fortinet FortiExtender versions 4.2.3 and below Fortinet FortiExtender versions 4.1.7 and below
Description The issue is related to an improper neutralization of special elements used in a command, also known as 'command injection', in Fortinet FortiExtender. This allows an authenticated attacker to execute privileged shell commands via CLI commands that include special characters. The vulnerability is associated with insufficient checking of arguments passed to a command, which can be exploited by a remote attacker to execute arbitrary commands.
Recommendations For Fortinet FortiExtender versions 7.0.1 and below, consider disabling the CLI command functionality until a patch is available. For Fortinet FortiExtender versions 4.2.3 and below, restrict access to the CLI to minimize the risk of exploitation. For Fortinet FortiExtender versions 4.1.7 and below, avoid using special characters in CLI commands until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
