Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 5.19.2
Description
A use-after-free flaw was found in the Linux kernel, specifically in the
cmd hdl filter function in drivers/staging/rtl8712/rtl8712 cmd.c. This issue allows an attacker to launch a local denial of service attack and gain escalation of privileges. The vulnerability is related to the Wi-Fi driver rtl8712 and can be exploited to cause a denial of service.Recommendations
For Linux kernel versions prior to 5.19.2, update to version 5.19.2 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the
rtl8712 Wi-Fi driver until a patch is available. Restrict access to the vulnerable cmd hdl filter function in drivers/staging/rtl8712/rtl8712 cmd.c to minimize the risk of exploitation.Fix
