Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 5.16.3
Description
The issue is related to the misinterpretation of the regulator get return value in the Linux kernel, specifically in the drivers/scsi/ufs/ufs-mediatek.c file. This misinterpretation can lead to pointer dereference errors. The
ufs mtk init va09 pwr ctrl() function is affected, and exploitation of this issue may allow an attacker to cause a denial of service.Recommendations
For Linux kernel versions prior to 5.16.3, update to version 5.16.3 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the
ufs mtk init va09 pwr ctrl() function until a patch is available. Restrict access to the vulnerable drivers/scsi/ufs/ufs-mediatek.c module to minimize the risk of exploitation.Fix
NULL Pointer Dereference
