CVE-2022-41981

CVSS v3.1

8.1

High

VectorAV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions OpenImageIO version 2.3.19.0
Description The issue is related to a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the TGA file format parser of OpenImageIO. This vulnerability can be exploited by a remote attacker using a specially crafted targa file, potentially allowing them to access confidential data, compromise data integrity, and cause a denial of service. The vulnerability can lead to out of bounds read and write on the process stack, resulting in arbitrary code execution.
Recommendations For OpenImageIO version 2.3.19.0, consider avoiding the use of TGA files until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, restrict access to the TGA file format parser to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
