Description
A denial of service issue exists in the ZfileOutput::close() functionality of OpenImageIO. This can be triggered by a specially crafted ImageOutput Object, allowing an attacker to cause a denial of service by providing a malicious file. The vulnerability is related to pointer dereference errors and can be exploited remotely.
Recommendations
For OpenImageIO version 2.4.4.2, consider disabling the ZfileOutput::close() functionality as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the ZfileOutput component to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using specially crafted ImageOutput Objects that can trigger this issue. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
